As the last day of school approaches, Moms Insanity Summer kicks in. I mean just the thought of the word, ‘summer’ bring visions of lathering up with suntan oil, an ice tea in one hand with the latest Jami Amerine book in the other. Just like fingernails on the chalkboard, you snap out of it and realism sets in. Someone drop the mic.
Reality is remembering how you dropped your baby at the front door of kindergarten, and picking her up at the back door, more grown up than imagined. Suddenly, my brain is humming the words, “Time keeps on ticking, ticking, ticking, into the future (emphasis on f-u-t-u-r-e)”. Then you swear you keep hearing Mom saying, “See, how quickly time flies!” (I told you it was insanity).
Insanity plays the part if you think you will begin summer without a game plan for your children. What is your goal? For me, I am trying to figure out how in the world I’m going to entertain my four year old all summer without being connected 24/7 to technology. How do I continue the structure that her amazing teachers have kept up all year and challenge her growth? The key is balance. So as a gift to kick off ‘Moms Insanity Summer’, here is a summer adventure schedule (link below) I created so that together, we can tackle the summer.
And if you have any ideas you would like to share, feel free to sip some ice tea and jot down a few lines to us.
